I think it was something to do with the feed into roadrunner.
I'm not sure I completely understand how it all works, but I gather
there are a few super-servers or gateways or such like that serve as
clearinghouses between ISPs and such.
I think one of these super-servers feeding roadrunner must have been
messed up, but not all of them because I was getting other mail from
other sources on my roadrunner account during the "outage".
I,too, got all my other mail... just nothing from PDML...
Are the archives the same as the digests. I tried the straight PDML
and just couldn't keep up with all the emails. The digests appear to
gather all the posts together into digestable clumps and don't seem to
lag too far behind.
At least they don't lag as far behind as I do some times.
No - archives not same as digests.... My set up is simply to dump all
the PDML mail into a folder on my computer at home
where I can easily sort by subject, sender, etc and when I reply it
stays on my computer in a sent folder that i NEVER delete.
I can easily go back and find stuff as long as it was a thread I cared
about enough to reply to :-)....
I have a gray blackground set in mail... it is almost full screen and
large font... much the least stressful way to read and send
mail....
As to your new website, I pretty much like the design but there was
one thing that bothered me a little ... when I was browsing through
some galleries, I'd click the "next arrow" to go the next image;
instead of going to the next image, there'd be a delay while it popped
open a thumbnail of the image in a new window.
After a few seconds it would close the thumbnail window and go on to
the next image.
It seemed like it was opening the thumbnail window when the mouse
pointer lingered over the arrow for a fraction of a second before I
clicked. With a little practice I could dart in and click the arrow
without triggering the thumbnail window.
I sort of followed some of the other comments and that might be what
others were commenting on.
Yeah I know what you mean, but this only happens when there is site wide
or server lag... the little photo... it is
sort of saying - yeah you clicked on next and I cant open the larger
file so fast :-) I don't mind it at all --
not my doing , though... if it bothers you you could just do the slide
show... which now has a new style, too
the film strip moving across the top -- and a button to hide captions...
However, what we were discussing earlier was something I was able to get
rid of with cribbed code stopping the
text boxes that show the whole caption... I've seen that sort of thing
all over the web... and I dont like it either.
In fact, I dislike anything that picks up a signal to do something when
you mearly move your mouse without clicking..
