I've often wondered about the need for a really good monitor. I'd
certainly like one, but I've yet to find an IPS or VA monitor readily
available in Australia.

Then there is the question of what the image you are editing is going
to be used for. 4 colour printing doesn't have the colour gamut of
even TN screens so if the image is to be printed what use is a great
monitor? If you are publishing it on the net then 99% of people
looking at it will have TN screens so what it will never look the way
you edited it, so what is the use of a great monitor? If you are only
going to share it with other people with colour adjusted high end
monitors, you will have a small - albeit a knowledgeable and
discerning - audience.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like a nice monitor with a wide viewing angle,
great contrast and a wide colour gamut, but am I better off catering
to my audience? Please give me some justification for buying a high
end monitor that I am going to have to order specially without even
seeing how it performs!
