If that's the case, Pentax should have dropped AA's and gone with a
LiIon pack. Eneloops are so popular because they have less issues with
power-hungry devices than other rechargable AA solutions.

In a lot of ways I applaud Pentax's committment to AA's in their
consumer DSLR's, but I think they've hit the point where switching to
the technically superior LiIon packs is the better choice.

I suspect you are right, since NiMH batteries don't seem up to the task.
