That was uploaded directly from the camera to flickr.

Once I got it onto my iMac I processed it a bit more:

I'll also be posting a bunch of pictures taken with "real cameras",
I've got about 1400 frames from the weekend to wade through.

I'd guess that there are probably 1 to 2 orders of magnitude more
photos taken with camera phones than any other sort of camera, but I
tend to think of them as "not real cameras". I was very pleasantly
surprised at the quality of the photos this phone produces, in good
light anyways.

I sus;ec that there may be some subtle tone mapping going on, the sky
in these shots is just too well exposed in comparison with the rest of
the frame.

Web research on "Salvation Mountain" in "Niland CA" would probably
tell a lot more of the story. But it is a very impressive
accomplishment for one guy, who is now probably in his 70's or
80's. Leonard Knight, if I recall correctly.

There was an amazing amount of stuff to photograph down in that
area. Unfortunately the group we went with was about 30 people, so it
was impossible to photograph anything of interest without someone else
getting in the way.

I found that I also seem to have a different rhythm when it comes to
photographing some of these places. We'd get there, everybody would
charge off to the obvious subject, I'd take a couple of "warm up"
shots and just as I was starting to get a feel for the place, and
starting to see intersting things to photograph, we'd charge off
someplace else.

It is interesting to note that I was the only one shooting Pentax, but
there were three people shooting Holgas.

The first step is learning to take great photos,
the second step is learning to throw away ones that are merely good.
