I scan at highest resolution, then save in TIFF format with (lossless) LZW compression.
I open each scanned file in Photoshop just to crop and adjust levels. I usually leave a little headroom for more adjustment of levels if I choose to make a print later. I never, ever apply unsharp mask to the originals. After collecting just under 650 mb of images in a directory, I use a nifty program called " imagENGine " to automatically make a webpage of the photos. It makes a web-viewable master index and slideshow pages which means I always have contact sheets and full-screen images available in standard jpg and html format. Finally, I burn the CD, using a directory name that identifies the date/location or possibly subject matter, then test the CD. As my hard drive fills up, I delete the original scan files. -- John Mustarde www.photolin.com - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
