I don't think the the problem with the PUG is the hosting. The problem is that a lot of new members don't know about it, long time list members haven't been contributing, and currently the maintainer is AWOL. Changing the hosting won't solve any of those problems.

How about photo.net? It is easy to use, and everyone could email
their entries to one person, who could then post them all at the
beginning of the month. We could even have a different person
responsible for each month if no one has the time to handle the
gallery on a permanent basis.

I wouldn't want to use flickr for the reasons Bruce states, and don't they
have some wacky copyright policy? I'd be willing to help out with the PUG
in the future if Scott didn't want to do it, though I'd have to deal with my
recently fussy computer. Since upgrading my Norton antivirus software, I've
been experiencing occasional browser freezing when I click on links in
email. It's especially common with links from overseas, so I have to get
that sorted. Also, we've been talking about a new computer, which would
probably mean a switch from Windows XP to Windows 7, and if that happens,
I'd have to get all that sorted before taking on the PUG. Cheers, Christine

Another thought. If maintaining and uploading to the PUG is a drag,
is there a reason why it wouldn't be housed on /something like/
flickr? Please don't shoot -- I've lurked long enough to know that
not everyone is a flickr fan. I'm just saying that maybe the
technology has evolved such since the birth of the PUG that there
might be some other options...?

I'm OK with Flickr for most purposes. But I don't think that anyone here
will be interested in using any site that requires you to sign-up to an
account in order to upload shots. That would rule out photo.net, flickr and
probably all the other social photo sites.

The PUG site design is unique in allowing essentially anonymous but
moderated uploads.
