Some really evocative photos there, and they underline how America has changed in the last 70 years - at least as far as the image presented by the movies and television shows! This link prompted me to pull out my copy of "U.S. Camera Annual" from 1942: many of the photos in it could have formed part of the collection I just saw, and they range in quality from the banal to the beautiful.
