2011/1/31 Larry Colen <l...@red4est.com>:

I'm curious how often the people on this list work from even a rough plan,
versus just going out and seeing what they find.

To me, planning means an increased likelihood of getting the shot I
want, and a decreased likelihood of grabbing any other opportunity
that turn up, randomly, meanwhile. It's a function with a secret,
optimal balance. Please tell me if you find it... :-)

At any one time I have several images in my mind that I seek to capture, when and if the scene arises before me I'll try my best to capture it.

A small number of my images I randomly capture on a walk about - no particular thing to shoot, seeing what develops.

The vast number of what I shoot in a year come about by specifically being at a particular place at a particular time of the year, not that they are set up but I generally have a good idea of what's there to shoot.
