as a general statement, i disagree; you over-exalt the very messy, often fatally flawed, process of corporate policy-making, similar to saying citizens shouldn't question the decisions of professional politicians or military commanders because they know so much more than us

i think consumers should clamor and jostle and critique the mega-corpses just as citizens should constantly harass their governments; the more involved we are the better, even if we are ignorant, because we will get an education in the process, and we will dilute the manipulative tendencies of marketing machines

speaking of what camera-makers "should" do (imnsho), Nikon's S800c (Android/Wifi/GPS built-in) seems like it might shake things up; i'm surprised Nikon did it first, but there is a lot to criticize about it too (stale version of the OS, too many pixels, no RAW, weak battery), so i think there is room for other brands …
