By the way, as a follow up to the SD card working/not working saga... The crony popped around last night and I sussed the situation after a couple of minutes testing.
She'd basically bought a SDHC card and was trying to use it in a Pentax 750Z <http://www.dpreview.com/news/2004/8/16/pentax_750z> Clearly the camera is incapable of using the card, and I advised her to use just a plain old SD card instead, like the 2GB SD card that came with it.
