So... here's an update... while waiting on the cheapo display screen that I ordered to arrive, inspiration struck. Connecting the camera from the pc/av port to a personal dvd player transmits everything on the lcd screen - including live view and image review - to that screen. The only glitch is that the aspect ratio isn't quite right, working on that...
Anyhooo, an interesting development, I thought. I used the pc/av cable that came with the camera, and this dvd player, which I picked up used: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DVP-FX820-8-Inch-Portable-Player/dp/B00139R1TA If I can get the aspect ratio issue ironed out, it could be a moderately OK solution... the screen is a good size, 8 inches, tilts, flips & swivels, and it has a battery pack and a car adapter. -c On Mon, Apr 13, 2015 at 4:21 PM, Christine Nielsen <ch...@inielsen.net> wrote: > Thanks guys. > > I am currently leaning towards picking up a monitor that will do hdmi in... > > FWIW, I have in the past been able to use the hdmi connection from camera to > projector, enabling me to show students both live view and image review.... > > -c > > > On Apr 13, 2015, at 12:55 PM, Igor PDML-StR <pdml...@komkon.org> wrote: > > > Christine, > > As Steve wrote, all (most?) standard laptops and desktops would not have > ability for video in, only video out. > > There are small stand-alone LCD monitors (5"-10") that have HDMI inputs, and, > I suspect might even work on batteries.
