I bought a pair of the 16x24 back when they were expensive. In a relate note, StarGate SG1 used a prop made out of the a PENTAX binocular Shell, which was used a few episodes. They do look pretty cool as well as being very good binoculars. The only issue is holding 16x24 steady.

A while back I found a neat set of Pentax UCF Mini 8x21 binoculars
(Made in Japan) and they are really nice. Incredibly lightweight, yet
good image quality (though with small objectives, not made for low
light). I liked them so well that when I tripped across a (New in the
box) set of Pentax 8x24 UCF WR binoculars (7.5 degree field of view) I
decided to upgrade and gift my original pair to my sister, the birder.

>From what I've read, the latest "Made in China" Pentax binoculars are
not regarded as well as the earlier Made in Japan stuff. That makes
this one of those rare times that you can get something for less today
that is actually worth more. The prices on the box showed that they
were originally $129, marked down to $69 and I got them on that
infernal auction site for $46, shipped.

Before I saw these, I didn't realize that WR was a thing for Pentax
for products other than cameras and lenses.
