No, I didn't mean the open gallery as an add on...
I actually thought about every month being an open gallery - thinking
more people would submit without a theme... but I do like the themes
myself, actually.
Selecting one month as an open gallery sounds good to me, personally.
The synchronicity theme we did before, I believe, was a day in September.
A day late in September or early October would be my vote - Fall here,
and spring in the Antipodes. I thought it was our synchroniciy day was
what morphed into World photo day.. and is effectively an open gallery
in a way.. but perhapsmaking it a week instead of a day.. just
throwing things out.

Certainly glad to hear that you want to press on BRian, I had
incorrectly thought your comment reflected your weariness.
But i do have trouble sometimes coming up with anything at all for some
of the themes and the restriction of the one day shoot, especially a day
in August,
I find difficult. Lets move world photo day to Spring or fall :-)
I think that's a bit beyond my sphere of influence....
Re your other suggestion (in an earlier post) about an Open Gallery
section each month. We did that for a couple of years after I took over
PUGmiester duties but we rarely got more than one or two submissions,
which is why I replaced it with an Open Gallery as one of the monthly
themes. It's a bit more work to include an Open Gallery each month - not
overwhelming but I wonder if it's worth it for a couple of submissions.
The Open Gallery month morphed into the World Photo Day theme for the
past two years. Maybe we should just go back to the general Open
Gallery month in 2017.

I always look at the gallery. With considerable interest but rarely comment.
It's a joy and critiques don't seem necessary.

On that basis, it looks as if there's still interest in keeping the
gallery going.

Please do! I am an infrequent contributor, an even less frequent commentator.
But even when I don’t participate I usually look and enjoy the work of others.
It helps give ideas, it helps set standards. it is interesting to see others’
points of view. And I do keep the monthly themes in mind when shooting and when
perusing items in my archives - it is an interesting useful structure to try
and shoot/edit according to an external theme rather than in tune with one’s
own narrow view of the world.
