I'm ahving more fun than you,B... here, have some virtual chicken soup... it won't solve the worlds problems, but if you concentrate it will help your cold.

Me, I'm watching the Downton Abbey marathon - we are up to season 5 - I've skipped many of them, but find they are somewhat soothing..

New Year's Day has dawned here - still bloody hot! Looking forward to
the promised cool change.

Anyway - I hope everyone has a great 2017.

I'm glad I stayed awake long enough for it to be the New Year someplace.

As usual when there's a few days' downtime, the evil spirits have taken
advantage of my lowered defences and given me the grandfather of all colds.
I've been drifting in and out of drug-induced sleep for the last 24 hours, and
keep thinking I may wake up on Jan 1st 2016 to find the whole past year was
just a butterfly dreaming, that Brexit and Trump and all the horrors were the
frenzied imaginings brought on by a succubus. But perhaps the reality from
which the butterfly dreams is an intellectual in Pol Pot's Cambodia, or a child
in Aleppo, and all our little problems don't amount to a hill of beans in this
crazy world, as a wise man once said.

Happy New Year
