Actually it's more like Ricoh shot Pentax in the foot.
What they were probably thinking was; "Damn all our competitors have
released upgrades, and there are rumors of our impending demise, we have
to get some kind of update out to head them off, even if it's
underwhelming".
Personally I'd have liked to see a K3 III, with improved auto focus,
even though that's not my biggest concern, and a few more lenses for the
K-1, put the FF body upgrade out another year and get it right.

cost. My concern was that I have a lot of lenses, and it is a nuisance to test
them all for focus accuracy, which I would have had to do. Instead I'll just
stick with my outdated K-1, which I've been very pleased with.
