I'm considering buying a set of pipes. It's an instrument I've always

There are two theories surrounding the invention of the Bagpipes:
One is that they were invented in India, but the Indians couldn't do
anything with them so they were tossed on the dung heap. A Scotsman came
along, found them and the Scots have been blowing the crap out of them
ever since.
The other is that they were invented in India and given to the Scots as
a joke.
The Scots never caught on.
I've asked my Indian co-workers which is correct, but they just smile at
me like they are talking to a lunatic.
Of course that is how they usually talk to me.
