Odetta! One of my all-time favorites.

I was a folk music snob in college. Baez and Dylan were "Pop" singers,
ripping off the real folk artists: Woody Guthrie, Cisco Houston, Ledbelly,
Odetta, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Josh White, Ramblin' Jack Elliot, and the
Carter Family. Pete Seeger, Harry Belefonte, and The Weavers also were
accepted, even though they had gone "commercial." The Kingston Trio?
Fogettaboutit!
