So there you have it then. Buy a K1ii & be done with it. All requests answered.

Some people estimate the cost of K-3III may initially be more than $ 1900 (over 200 K yen in Japan). Adding a GPS-module of € 250 brings the cost above that of the K-1 II which has GPS, astro-tracer (and flippy screen).
The K-1 II is sold for around  € 1850 in Europe and $ 1800 in US.

Isn't the stand alone GPS module still available?  It's still listed at B&H Photo as new so the K-3 III probably will support Astrotracing, just not with a built in GPS.

That doesn't do anything about the lack of a flippy screen, as I said before, Ricoh probably want's the K-3 series to be as rugged as possible and the flippy screen is a possible point of failure eliminated.

If you cannot do without it, then there are other options with it in the Pentax line, if none of those are acceptable to you...

Life is full of disappointments and hard choices have to be made when designing a camera, especially to a competitive price, sometimes those choices will go against what you want.

I have to go without an aperture simulator, which on the whole seems to be much easier to implement than a flippy screen, but that's my problem.

Nothing is mentioned about Astrotracer in the specs.

Hear, hear!   And, besides, I still have over 50 000 clicks left on the K5.

On the Mk ii, the GPS was associated with the built-in Astrotracer. Has this feature been removed from the Mk iii ?

I agree, Henk. GPS and a flippy screen would have induced me to buy one. Apart from a high enough ISO to shoot landscapes illuminated by passing fireflies, I don’t see a compelling advantage over my K-5.

12 FPS, 26 MP, 4K and touch screen (of course). Missing GPS which is in K-3 II.
But I cannot do without a flippy screen, so this is not for me.
