Hi Brad, If I were to have your assignment, I'd look for some rather abstract "red" pictures.
Firetrucks, apples, flowers, latex, etc... - everything is fine, but I'd suggest to go really close, so you don't get "a photo of a firetruck", but some rather abstract mix of red & chrome & black colors, with red blowing out from the image. Here's an example (self pitch alert!): http://gemma.geo.uaic.ro/~vdonisa/red2.html You may like it or not, but I think it illustrates how to get closer to a "red" theme instead of a "flowers" one.
