Last week, I received a call from the regional Altium rep, seeing if he could get me to upgrade to dxp (or whatever they call it now). I'm one of the holdout 99se users. So far I haven't seen any reason to upgrade. Anyway, he said the upgrade price was back down to the 3.5k level, not 6.5 as the previous call (a few weeks ago) had announced (not an upgrade price, but a 'discount' for 99se users!). We talked for a while about why I wasn't convinced, and I told him that at 3.5k I might consider upgrading. But there really were no compelling features that I desperately needed. I use fpgas but I wouldn't consider Altium's solution (I was burned a little by 3.5 when they didn't keep up with the fpga vendor, I switched to the vendor completely. I use VHDL with lots of state machines and pipelining). What I really wanted was improvements to schematic/pcb, dxp doesn't have many.

It does sound like the Altium reps are free agents!

Hi guys,
Well I got a personal call from Altium this week to advise me of changing policies. As of June/July, all upgrade paths from P99SE (or earlier versions) to DXP will revert to full retail cost ($11,000). Why do they never have a set date when they call you, this is definitely a pattern?

Have the rest of you "hold-outs" been getting calls as well? Or are they just targeting the prime targets with greater numbers of licenses, so far.
