Hey Leo, Don't you love marketing? So far our guys haven't realized that we can get PCBs in colors other than green w/white silkscreen ;-).
We've used a product called Qualecad. It makes pretty nice 3d visualizations within Protel, especially if you model up all the various components. It shows components, traces, vias, pads, silkscreen and it will let you turn on/off these items. My only complaints are if you try to export as idf. Arcs are exported as a series of line segments, and in several cases we found the components in the exported assembly had been rotated. The exported 3d shows the size/shape only, not the traces, silkscreen etc. Darcy -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Leo Potjewijd Sent: October 26, 2005 6:53 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [PEDA] board visualisation Does anyone out there know of a software package that can visualise a bare board from Gerbers? Silkscreen, copper and solder-resist? I tried the 3D-feature but that only crashes my system :( The sales people now want our (three colour) company logo on all our PCBs and they tend to be quite picky: ...can't you make the bottom part lighter?... ...maybe a larger font for the top portion... ...make it bigger, no-one can read that... ...that is not the correct font... ...the text should be lighter... ...can we have that in blue?... etc, etc, etc. Since not all our boards have a silkscreen I want to do it in copper and soldermask but those sales guys want to see how things turn out and I don't want to make gazillions of prototypes just for that logo.
