Thank you very much for reporting what you discovered. I had an idea that I had
got that command to work in the past, but because I had previously had no
interest in actually using it, I wasn't absolutely sure.

In any event, after reading your report, I tried creating a .DDB file using the
'MS Access Database' option (in place of the 'Windows File System' option which
I had used previously), and with that type of file, that command did then work
on my PC (but not without defects, as I will describe when I can find some time
to specify the associated details).

So I am now surmising that at the time that the associated PcbPrint server was
first released (during 1999, and as an optional addon server to be used in
conjunction with the *original* version of Protel 99), the 'Windows File
System' option had yet to be provided for .DDB files, meaning that the only
option available for .DDB files at that time was the 'MS Access Database'
option. So I now figure that after first acquiring a copy of the PcbPrint
server, I took a look at the Export (to metafiles) command at that time, but
because the associated functionality was of no interest to me, I never got
around to retesting that command with .DDB files using the 'Windows File
System' option until just a few days ago.

So unless anyone subsequently reports that they can create metafiles from .DDB
files using the 'Windows File System' option by using the Export (to metafiles)
command (which would imply that there is some issue with my PC), I am
concluding that this is yet another one of Protel 99 SE's bugs. And in that
regard, it is a "typical" "Altium" bug; i.e. they provide some new feature (in
the form of providing the 'Windows File System' option for .DDB files in this
particular instance), while simultaneously managing to "break" (or not
satisfactorily implement) functionality which had been provided previously (in
the form of not satisfactorily implementing the Export (to metafiles) command
for .DDB files using the 'Windows File System' option in this particular
instance).

I don't know if anyone else had discovered that defect before now and
subsequently reported it to Altium, but even if that had happened, it wouldn't
necessarily imply that any effort would have been made to actually rectify it.
After all, there are assorted other defects which were only rectified many
years after first being reported, or which have yet to be rectified even though
many years have passed since the time that they were first reported.

And even though that particular defect is regrettable, it is still "small beer"
when compared with some of the other defects associated with the Protel/DXP/AD
applications. But enough for the time being (and I will try and followup with
some more details concerning the PcbPrint server as time permits).

Regards,
Geoff Harland.
