The beginning of what?

Assuming capitalism has an inception date, are you suggesting capitalism
has been "in crisis" since the beginning of capitalism? 

If so, is your statement not, by your own definition, "meaningless, as 
nothing is permanent" -- in that since nothing is permanent, a thing 
is always in crisis against what it temporally is (dialectics)?

I'm sure that Doug's interest was far more specific than this sort of
philosophical musing -- as was Karl's quote.
