After defending Marxian state theory, I want to criticize it (or
at least the version of it that I summarized).  That theory leaes
leaves out the patriarchal and racist dimensions of most actually-
existing states.  Even when women or racial minorities rise to the
top.  I don't think this conflictws with thetheory I posted, but
it's a dimension that shouldn't be forgotten.
