My point was that productive forces can't be defined except by reference to what people want and need and these wants/needs change over time. This is different from claiming that in capitalism production is for need. I claimed the former but not that latter. Implied is that no "objective"--ahistorical--measure of the FoP can exist that is meaningful. Eric
