Cindy Sheehan Reiterates Endorsements of Howie Hawkins and Malachy
McCourt

A mailer from the Working Families Party that arrived in many voters
mailboxes on Friday and Saturday depicts Cindy Sheehan, along with Pete
Seeger and Michael Moore, urging voters to voters to support bringing
the
troops home by voting for Democrats running on the Working Families
Party line.

Last month, Cindy Sheehan had endorsed the Green Party candidates Howie
Hawkins for US Senator and Malachy McCourt for Governor.

The Working Families Party endorsed all the Democrats running for
statewide
office. These Democratic candidates also appear on the Working Families
Party line on Row E. The Green Partys candidates appear on the next
line, Row F.

Early Saturday evening Cindy Sheehan issued the following
clarification of
her position:

"I support a lot of the work of the Working Families Party and
especially
Mr. Pete Seeger who has been an amazing warrior for peace. However, I
cannot
support the candidacy of Hillary Clinton who is ensconced in the
all-Democratic slate. She is not pro-peace, or even anti-war and has
been a
rubber stamp for George Bush's war of terror. Many of the candidates
that
the WFP supports are worthy of support, but certainly not Senator
Clinton.

"I support Howie Hawkins in his campaign against Hillary Clinton and I
support Malachy McCourt in his campaign for governor.

"Peace, Cindy Sheehan.

A while ago, Joshua Frank did the following interview with Cindy Sheehan:

<blockquote>Sheehan: So far I have supported three who ended up losing
in the primaries: Marcy Winograd, Jonathan Tasini and Christine
Cegelis -- all of whom are Democrats, first two up against pro-war
incumbents. I have also supported Jeanne Cricenzo, a Democrat, Malachy
McCourt for Governor of New York who is a Green and Michael Berg and
Todd Chretien, both of whom are Greens. Kevin Zeese of Maryland who is
an independent candidate. And most recently I told Howie Hawkins, who
is running against Hillary Clinton in New York as a Green, that I
would support his antiwar campaign.

Frank: I've heard a rumor that you may be looking to start your own
third party. Is that true?

Sheehan: Yes, it is true. I think that to save our democracy our
country needs a viable and credible third party. This nation was
founded on rule by a few rich white males, and for all intents and
purposes, we are still ruled by a corporate elite.

We need a third party that will represent all the people, not just the wealthy.

It would be good if Jonathan Tasini endorsed Howie Hawkins and
encouraged his voters to vote for Hawkins.
