Our day-in-day-out, tired old "unsuccessful" approach has contributed something to the fact that "left Democrats" leave the DP all the time. Yes. I'm thinking of what approach might best initiate that process. An overture like Hawkins's may be a way to entice some to begin that process.
What happens in the streets does the job.
Again, yes. But, for the time being, nothing much is happening in the streets, right? Only 15 attended Cbus' weekly anti-war vigil today.
Frankly, the current lot regularly swallow a lot that the "left Democrats" of the 1960s would probably have found unacceptable.
Tasini, even on Israel in the midst of its Lebanon War this year, sounded quite decent for a man of his political persuasion, certainly deserving an overture from Hawkins. Presumably, his voters are with him on that or even to his Left? Surely the GP wants to win them over. -- Yoshie <http://montages.blogspot.com/> <http://mrzine.org> <http://monthlyreview.org/>
