PDL works fine on my MacBook without X on it. Well, I do have X, but I don't use it at all, and I have compiled PDL without X (because my version of X is really old). PDL also works fine (actually better) on my Xserve which certainly doesn't have X on it. > Also, how portable is PDL actually ? Haven't tried it on windows. PDL is available on every major platform, although I have personally used it only on Macs. I believe it requires Cygwin to run on Windows. All the gory details are on the PDL web site.
