The below page states the PDL download is for "OS X Lion", and doesn't
offer paths for older or newer versions of OS X.

You can get SciPDL version 2.4.10 from the PDL files
on sf.net. Start from http://pdl.perl.org and click on
Get PDL->Easiest possible install->Mac OS X for a
binary. PDL pretty much builds out of the box so if
someone wants to maintain the MacPorts distribution
that would be fine with me.

Segueing from the f77 thread...this would be a lot easier for Mac users if
the MacPorts distribution was maintained at all.

As you can see if you go to that link PDL is pretty out of data there
(2.4.6).
Looking at trac you can see that people are interested in this but the
listed maintainer is getting it done and the momentum for someone else to
step in isn't there yet I guess?
I think it would be geat if this worked! Then Mac users can cleanly get
everything(all dependencies) in one fell swoop. I'd try and just do this
myself but can't for the forseeable future because dissertation. ;)
Is there anyway to get the Mac Ports distribution rejuvenated? Anyone else
on this list interested in this?

To be more specific, the old snow leopard versions are still on the
download server, they aren't mentioned on the main page:

Get gfortran from http://hpc.sourceforge.net
I use it without problem and it works fine in conjunction with clang.

Can anyone, please, tell me of a free Fortran compiler for OS
X 10.8.6 (Snow Leopard) for use with PDL/ExtUtils::F77?
I tried the link on the GitHub PDL OS X page, but the software
to which it points (gcc/f77) does not seem to reflect the F77
of the text (there's no auto-install, and f77 isn't in the
package).
