I had it in my robots.txt. Maybe they read these in their search?

> I would never finish the list of banned words!

The stuff I was getting were all links:
<a href="http://www.pdaearth.info/index.php";>pda</a>
hemorrhoids treatment
so '<a.*a>' and 'url.*url' caught it all in the regex.

I left the actual website addresses in just in case he puts non-clickable links
in, as he's tried everything else.

This one definitely did. He even threatened me, and told me what exactly what
he thought of me, but I take your point.

Once I'd blocked him, he increased it to every 30 seconds for just over 2 weeks
before he gave up.
He still has a go about once a week trying different things, but they're all
blocked up to now.

What I did notice is that automated spam doesn't send the language, but neither
do search engines.
I tried this method, but saw search engines listed in my log and had to stop.
It would take a list of all search engines so they would be allowed through.

I would have thought a CAPTCHA would have done the job, except those with
Optical Character Recognition, which I wouldn't think too many have?

I've just put one on, but mainly just to learn how to do it.
Hope you find a solution.
