For completeness sake, there were people who weighed in on the issue in IRC but not here. This would influence the stats quite a bit actually; it's not so drastically in favor of removing the post. The people who want it removed were willing to fight for it; those who didn't care too much or wanted to keep it in some form weren't as vocal. I also know there are people out there who are upset with it being removed. The mailing list does not represent the whole story.
