OK.

the easiest alt-process next to cyanotype has to be salted paper.

cyanotype is likely the cheapest followed by gum bichromate (requires
expensive paper, water color pigment, gum arabic and pottasium dichromate)

Gum bichromate isn't expensive, but you must be prepared to tackle
multiple coat printing and registration - but his can be done with a
couple of pins some bulletin board.

All sorts of fun processes you can use with a big negative :)
