There are lots of books on darkroom layout. I can endorse the Polaroid
Sprintscan 45i, which cost $7,000 when I bought it last year. Be aware that
scanners don't often handle B&W negatives very well, unless you are quite
methodical about getting fairly flat negatives. It's probably a lot more
reliable to scan B&W prints than negs.
