okay .. (finally coming back around on this) .. so this is an SMF
problem eh? .. while I'm all for cleaning up SMF and having this do
the right thing when SMF manifests disappear - what i'm more concerned
with is the lack of svccfg actuators (or is it activators?) made
available in the IPS manifest .. it seems to me that it would be
helpful to have actuators that could/would:
(a) delete an SMF service
(b) check and or modify service properties (dependent actions perhaps)
(c) dump or import service configurations (think modified services and
upgrades)
oh .. and I left something off my original list that I still don't
understand (am guessing it's by design) and see as somewhat
problematic with IPS:
(5) missing no-deps or force install/remove
(6) no easy way to remove or clean up a package from a repository
