Supportable by whom? If you mean removing the ability of the administrator to
support the system and forcing them to go crying to their vendor through a
support contract every time there's a problem, then I suppose that's one way
to increase support revenue.

supportable has multiple meanings here:

* supportable by Sun
* supportable by the packaging system
* supportable from a correctness/auditing standpoint

In short, requiring the packaging system to account for and deal with broken package graphs would require substantial, additional development for functionality that is supposedly 'rarely' needed so 'should be ok' as supporters of it have mentioned.

So, yes, based on the above criteria, it is not 'supportable'.
