I understand that, but if Plucker Desktop is invoking PlkrData, then it knows that 
something has changed and can just set ITSELF up.

I guess what I'm calling for is for whoever is working on Plucker Desktop (sorry, I 
don't know who's who yet) to work with you to add your functionality to that program.  
It seems to me, that would provide the most intuitive user experience.

Thanks.  Yes, just one thing... If PlkrData installs a new channel while 
Plucker Desktop is already running, the less savvy users will wonder why 
the new channel doesn't appear in Desktop.  The reason is that Desktop 
reads the INI once excepting certain heavy operations; it doesn't expect 
the INI to suddenly change.

So the intra-process communications would be to reduce user annoyance.
