well thats good for you and to your family of group of companies.

> Why? MONEY... I refuse to pay the microsoft office tax!

ok, so you refuse to pay the tax. purpose for that tax is for their
intellectual property rights and others.
do you believe in intellectual property rights?

im glad they cope up the transition.

yes its more efficient and if you dont mind about your local network
traffic, thats fine.

linux is subject to hangs and data corruption too.

well your applications are simple and linux applications can do for your
needs.
i have my own needs too that linux cant do for me, that is why i stick to
windows.

believe it or not, i never encounter such a big problem in m$ or in linux
(or in other OS). it just how you configure and administer your OS to avoid
those problems. every OS has its own strong and weak point.

that is what you have to find out. linux community is trying to surpass what
m$ features have.

nahh... because your needs already satisfied what linux application have.
what about if there is a new hardware and your boss tell you i need to use
that as soon as possible since its driver is available only for windows,
what would you do? as i said, im not a martyr person and i simply used
practicality and economics here.

> Do you do part time for Microsoft?

nope... but i do a part time job.. if my client wants NT, i install NT for
them. if my client wants Novell, i install Novell for them. it simply
because that is what where they are happy for and they have the money to
spent for it. if they want Linux, then simply install Linux. simple.

Edwin, M$ bottom line is *business*. Bill has the money to pirate and hire
all the best people in the world if he wants to create a superior products
(take note: he pirated borland's chief architect and engineer to work for
him ). for example: buying a bicycle, which to do you prefer? a taiwan made
which is cheaper ( bulok ) or a made in japan ( matibay ) which is very
expensive? of course you buy a japanese made which will last for years but
the problem is what will happen to their business since people are not
buying or upgrading anymore because they are already contented with their
bicycle. thats the same true with M$ products. they intended not to perfect
their system as long as users are satisfied with their current products.
last time when Bill was here in the Philippines and he said: if your needs
wants those new features of m$ products then upgrade it, we are not forcing
you to upgrade.

do what is best for you and no one will stop you as long you satisfy
yourself and the same time to your company. and dont you worry because im a
linux not only as a fan but a maniac too! :->

fooler.
