i have nothing to do with psu, but have been part of a university computing staff. i think you are overestimating the resources available to a university computing group. ohsu is an unfair comparison because they are a hospital and therefore have some compliance requirements (hipaa) that allow them to invest in more sophisticated systems. when i was involved (more than 20 years ago), it was considered completely normal to have the computer system down for the entire week between xmas and new years. nowadays i'm sure that isn't common anymore, but a partial day outage seems pretty mild in comparison. _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list PLUG@lists.pdxlinux.org http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
