Hi Russell,

I couldnt find Network Manage. I found System -> Preferences ->
Network Connections and System -> Preference -> Network Proxy and
System -> Administration -> Network Tools. Within those dialog boxes,
I did not figure out how to disconnect and reconnect my interface. I
have physically unplugged and replugged my ethernet cable.

I almost 100 % positive that I'm using ethernet and not wireless,
because up until 2 hours ago my cable modem was hooked up directly to
my computer vie ethernet, with no router in between. Since "they" say
it is prudent to use a router, that's what I'm trying to do.
Eventually, I want to go wireless. My router does wireless, but
initially, I hooking up via ethernet. I thing there is some trick to
my router that I'm not getting, i.e. I'm possibly not resetting it to
factory defaults, and thus able to use the user name admin and
password admin.

I hope I don't have to do dhcp manually. For me, that's headed into
deep waters.

My ubuntu is 10.04
