Hello from GSC,

Can someone recommend a GNU or otherwise free drawing program or programs
that fall somewhere between the GIMP and xpaint. I sometimes need to do
simple color drawings for inclusion in web pages and although I know that
GIMP is well worth the effort to learn, I am finding the learning curve a
bit too steep to justify for what I need now (Yes, I am aware that I
am being short-sighted). On the other hand, xpaint doesn't quite cut it.
Ideas?

I would also be interested in hearing recommendations on programs for line
art - mostly electronics schematic diagrams (analog and digital) by hand,
but also simple illustrations. The end product will end up either in a
LaTex doc or web page.

While on the subject, are there any recommended programs that make ascii
art (especially electronic symbols) a bit easier. It may be antiquated,
but every now and then I'd like to be able to do a drawing in an email
without having to fire up a drawing program and attach a file.

Thank you in advance for your always helpful comments.
