Tried this out already, and it's fine for transferring files between two
boxes, or connecting one NIC-less box to a network using the other member
of the PLIP connection as a gateway to the rest of the network. Fine
except for the issue that Dido pointed out about low speed and high CPU
usage.
I was hoping to enable the computer whose PCMCIA ports are not working to
connect directly to a switch/hub on the network, with no need for a
"PLIPping gateway". There's also a chance it'll be faster and less
CPU-extensive than PLIP, but that's to be found out.
