There are quite a lot of USB-Ethernet adapters available locally. the
trick is to grab the ones linux supports, (or have a vendor kind enough
to lend you one first before buying).
There are docs on supported USB-Ethernets in http://www.linux-usb.org; i
believe USB-ethernet aremuch simpler to find (because there are less
chipsets available, and the ones that are, are supported).
