I would like to add topics also on software development, because whatever
its excellence in the server world, Unix (and hence Linux) is still the
penultimate hacker's programming platform! It became so precisely because
of that.
Here are my suggestions:
C/C++
Java
Perl, Bash, and other scripting languages
Linux databasing
Graphics/Multimedia Programming
Server-side scripting (e.g. general CGI, PHP, servlets/EJB, etc)
Kernel hacking
Software Licensing issues
I'm game to go in for most of these things.
