they did... there are consensus and microsoft knew that there is inversely
proportional with regards to security when their os is more on
user-friendliness and featureful... meaning the more user-friendliness and
featureful your os is the more it will compromise your security... also the
same true that the more secured your os is the more unfriendliness and
unfeatureful it will outcome... microsoft decided the path that is more on
user-friendliness and featureful for *desktop* os because they knew and by
statistically speaking... there are more illiterate pc users in the world
than those who are literate... bottom line is... business strategy... that
is *one* of the reason why microsoft stays on top...

>even linux has it's share of security flaws!

thats the funny thing with the linux community that they are keep on
bitching with microsoft security flaws where in reality, the frequency of
security flaws of linux is very rapid than microsoft...

there is one simple rule that i always follow really in terms of programming
... the less you do, the less error or security it will take... the more you
do, the more error or security it will take...

> look at openbsd it's the most secure os in the world!! but it's very
minimal..

hehehe it is minimal because at startup... a little or no services running
around...

>then look at windows, it has all these features, but it
>compromises the os' security because it has all these
>software installed with it!

because of my statement above... but take note... microsoft is already
spending money how to deal with user-friendly os without compromising its
security... their first step is *palladium*...

fooler.
