I don't think that's quite fair. sure not everything works. the same can be
said about linux apps. as rick moen said, a lot of linux apps are unfinished.
that's understandable since those apps are generally free. perhaps
a better comparison would be between freeware windows apps and
free linux apps. or between payware windows apps and payware linux
apps. i'm not arguing the literal understanding of the point. i'm
discussing the implication (what's the technical term for that in logic,
the converse?) that all linux apps are not unusable and buggy GUI
apps. i *am* arguing against reflexive and absolute statements that
make us all in the linux community feel good, but that obscure
clear thinking because that's what absolutes do.
i agree with the rest of your post though. i might comment in more
detail, but i think i won't since most of it would be niggling :).
