AFAIK, AMD Duron is different from AMD Athlon XP. I think you mixed the
two with your description above.  If I am not mistaken Durons are like
the Celereon wherein the L1 and L2 cache is small or missing.

It depends on the specs. They have different speed ratings.

I prefer Athlon XP because of the price-performance value.  

Linux runs fine on Athlons.
