A good first step would be first to wean people away from using MSIE and
Outlook (which in my experience cause 90% of all security problems in a
typical corporate network) and using a Free Software equivalent of the
same, like Firefox and Thunderbird.  Then maybe you can wean them away
from using Office by installing the Windows version of OpenOffice.  Most
people will never use any other applications besides these and hence you
can easily defenestrate their computer totally and get them to use these
same programs under KDE or Gnome.  It then isn't such a terrible shock.
