The Davao City Chamber office has been using Linux for over a year. There are
8 clients for their LTSP based on Redhat 9.

Our implementation of the project was not ideal because budget was very tight
and the staff were always busy for a training session. We ended up with just
one training. Nevertheless, its been more than a year and they are still using
it.

This was a learning experience for me and these are what I learned:

1. Tech support is easy with a dial-in server or via phone call. They averaged
1 incident every two months mostly related to hardware problems.

2. Main issue with Office suite is the presentation software. OO is very
capable but it was difficult that most third party computers used during
conferences do not have OO installed. My recommended fix was to bring a Open
Office CD and also to buy a notebook for the office ;)

3. Some will resist using Linux but if the boss is using it then the staff do
not have a choice. The boss needs to be committed to the change.

4. Some devices do not have Linux drivers. This can be avoided if you tell
them to check with you before they purchase any peripheral devices.

5. For LTSP type of setup avoid unknown video cards or Monitors.
