Hi Michael,

I would like to suggest that you SHOULD really try UbuntuLinux[1]. It is very
easy to install ( < 5 screens on most cases), based on Debian snapshot of sid
(with patches from Canonical), 6-month timely releases which coincides with
the GNOME Release, therefore, you get a new GNOME Desktop every release (!),
and most importantly,
they provide support for releases for up to 18 months.

So basically,

1. You get the power of Debian's package management
2. A "Just Works" Desktop Environment
3. Commercial support.
4. They ship FREE CDs! They even have a live CD so you can try it out.

What else can you ask for? :)

Cheers,

PS. The next release will be using x.org's X server so you get a really nice
desktop-oriented X server.

PPS. I'm not a Canonical employee nor any relation to Canonical. I just don't
get the idea that UbuntuLinux hasn't been talked about in this Mailing list.
Shame.
