I wrote an el-primitivo (as in, 3 tables or so) library management
system some time back for one of Mozcom's client schools. Among the
"duh, wiz" features were a MARC import and export facility, and online
generation of barcodes that you could print and stick on your books.
Nothing like Koha --- but Koha is so %^$! complicated that customizing
it is a royal pain in the a**.

As for education -- I used to flog this software called "Greenstone"
which is a framework for providing learning materials. I even managed
to get a boatload of materials from UNESCO in digitized, Greenstone
format on a bunch of CD's from Belgium or something (they're sitting
around here...) It would be nice if someone could consolidate all
these developmental learning materials and provide them to schools. I
mean, yes, you can get Encarta on CD for a pirate-warez price, but
having public-domain references still has value.
